Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has issued a traffic alert for motorists, warning of temporary road closures and diversions due to essential infrastructure works across major routes. These updates are part of broader efforts to enhance traffic flow, improve road safety, and maintain the city’s transport network.
Closures on Jebel Ali–Lehbab Road and Dubai–Al Ain Road

From 12am on June 20 to 12am on June 22, a full closure will be in place on Jebel Ali–Lehbab Road (E77) at the bridge intersection with Dubai–Al Ain Road (E66). The closure affects both directions as maintenance works are being carried out on the bridge.
Traffic authorities are advising motorists to take the free right turns from both directions of Jebel Ali–Lehbab Road to join Dubai–Al Ain Road. They will close the exit loops from E66 to E77 during this period and are encouraging drivers to use the next exit on Dubai–Al Ain Road as an alternative.
The RTA has recommended planning routes in advance, allowing additional travel time, and using alternative roads where possible.
Long-Term Diversions on Emirates Road Until August 30
In addition to the short-term closure, the RTA has also implemented traffic diversions on Emirates Road (E311). The affected section stretches between the Dubai–Al Ain interchange and the Ras Al Khor–Al Awir interchange, a critical route connecting Dubai and Sharjah.
These diversions will remain in effect until August 30, 2025, as part of a long-term infrastructure improvement plan. Workers have installed signage and traffic management systems to assist commuters through detour routes.
Motorists Should Do:
Plan Ahead to Avoid Congestion
With major routes impacted, drivers are encouraged to start journeys earlier than usual and stay informed about any further updates. Early morning and late afternoon travel times may experience higher delays.
Use Real-Time Navigation Apps
Navigation apps with live traffic integration can help commuters identify faster, alternative routes. The RTA also suggests enabling traffic notifications for timely updates.
Consider Public Transport Where Feasible
For some commuters, Dubai’s extensive metro and bus network may offer a more convenient and uninterrupted option during the closure periods.
Part of a Broader Network Upgrade
The road closures are aligned with RTA’s broader strategy to improve connectivity and reduce travel times across the emirate. Recent announcements include upgrades to Al Wasl Road, with new bridges and tunnels significantly cutting down commute durations.
Similarly, improvements in school zones and urban arterial routes aim to improve safety, especially during peak hours. The current disruptions may cause short-term inconvenience, but they are set to enhance the city’s mobility standards in the long term.
Stay Updated and Drive Cautiously
The RTA advises motorists to follow official updates on its verified platforms and use reliable navigation tools for accurate detour guidance. Adhering to speed limits and following posted signs will not only help maintain road safety but also reduce chances of unexpected delays.
