Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is rolling out free shuttle buses this Easter weekend to foster inclusivity and support diverse communities in the emirate. From April 18 to 20, 2025, the service will operate between Energy Metro Station and the Church Complexes in Jebel Ali, ensuring seamless access for worshippers and visitors attending Easter celebrations.
The initiative underscores the RTA’s commitment to community engagement and aligns with the UAE’s broader vision of promoting tolerance, coexistence, and religious harmony.
Free Easter Shuttle Service Between Metro and Church Complexes
As thousands are expected to attend church services and gatherings during Easter weekend, the RTA free Easter shuttle buses will serve as a convenient transport solution. The buses will run daily from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, connecting Energy Metro Station on the Red Line with the Jebel Ali Church Complexes, home to several prominent places of worship including St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Christ Church Jebel Ali, and St. Mina Coptic Orthodox Church.
This gesture not only reduces transportation barriers for attendees but also reflects Dubai’s ethos of multiculturalism and respect for all faiths.
Oud Metha Celebrants Advised to Use Metro
For those attending Easter events in Oud Metha, another well-known area for church gatherings, the RTA advises commuters to use the Oud Metha Metro Station, which offers easy pedestrian access to churches in the area. This station is within walking distance of key venues such as St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Holy Trinity Church.
This public transport support ensures that regardless of location, community members have safe, convenient, and cost-effective options to participate in their religious observances.
UAE’s Commitment to Inclusivity Reflected in RTA’s Efforts
The move by RTA comes as part of a larger national effort guided by the UAE’s leadership to support religious freedom and inclusivity. In recent years, the UAE has launched several initiatives aimed at enhancing interfaith dialogue and peaceful coexistence.
The free shuttle service is not only about transportation—it is a symbol of solidarity with Dubai’s multicultural population, which includes residents from over 200 nationalities. By facilitating easier access to spiritual spaces during a significant religious occasion, the RTA reinforces its role as more than just a transport operator—it positions itself as a community partner in the broader social fabric of the emirate.
RTA’s Sustainability Push Continues with Electric Bus Trials
While supporting religious festivities, the RTA is also forging ahead with sustainability efforts. Earlier this week, the authority launched a pilot operation of a next-generation electric bus, which is currently being tested on Route F13—a feeder line connecting Al Quoz Bus Depot with key destinations such as Burj Khalifa, The Palace Downtown Hotel, Dubai Fountain, and the Dubai Mall Metro Bus Stop (South).
This initiative is part of the RTA’s ambitious plan to achieve a zero-emission public transport system by 2050, incorporating smart, eco-friendly mobility solutions into the city’s transit infrastructure.
The pilot phase of the electric bus is being closely monitored for efficiency, passenger feedback, and environmental impact, further demonstrating RTA’s dual focus on innovation and community wellbeing.
Community-Driven Mobility: A Vision Beyond Transport
From offering free Easter transportation to piloting electric buses, the RTA is steadily transforming Dubai’s mobility ecosystem. These efforts signal a broader vision—public transport as a tool for unity, sustainability, and social inclusion.
By ensuring smooth access to important cultural and religious events, RTA proves that mobility isn’t just about moving people—it’s about connecting lives, values, and communities.
Dubai actively ensures that residents and visitors can celebrate Easter weekend safely, respectfully, and without logistical hurdles, reinforcing the city’s commitment to a seamless and inclusive experience.
