Dubai RTA Announces Free Parking for New Year Long Weekend

Elevating the New Year Celebration with Complimentary Parking Delight

In a strategic move to boost the festive spirit among Dubai drivers, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has made a commendable decision—granting a two-day waiver on parking fees during the upcoming extended weekend. Commencing on the first day of the new year, Monday, January 1, 2024, this initiative aims to bring a touch of joy to residents as they bid farewell to 2023 and welcome 2024.

As part of this festive gesture, public parking across the city will be entirely free on Monday, January 1, 2024. It’s important to note that this exemption is applicable to on-street parking only and does not extend to multi-level terminals, where regular parking fees will still be in effect. The standard parking tariff will resume on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

Extended Weekend Bliss

Residents of Dubai are in for a delightful treat, as January 1, 2024, not only marks the beginning of the new year but also falls on a Monday, making it a public holiday. This translates into a three-day weekend when combined with the regular Saturday- Sunday break, providing residents with a golden opportunity to celebrate, relax, and make the most of the festive season.

While availing themselves of the complimentary parking, residents are strongly encouraged to enjoy the extended weekend responsibly and adhere to traffic regulations. This move by the RTA aligns with their commitment to facilitating the community and enhancing the overall experience for residents and visitors alike.

Service Timings and Transportation

In addition to the parking announcement, the RTA has shared valuable information regarding service timings during this period. Technical testing and customer service centers will remain closed on January 1, allowing staff to savor the holiday. For those relying on public transportation, Dubai Metro’s Red and Green lines will be operational from 8 am on December 31, 2023, until 11:59 pm on January 1, 2024. Similarly, the Dubai Tram will be in service from 9 am on December 31, 2023, to 1 am on January 2, 2024.
