Dubai announces revised paid parking timings for Ramadan with daily free iftar hours

Residents get two hours of free parking every evening as RTA updates Ramadan parking, Metro, and Tram schedules.

Dubai has announced revised paid parking timings for Ramadan, bringing a practical change that will be felt across the city — especially during iftar hours. Residents and visitors will now get two hours of free parking every evening, making it easier to reach mosques, homes, restaurants, and community gatherings without the usual parking pressure.

The update was confirmed by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) as part of the emirate’s annual Ramadan adjustments. Alongside parking changes, new schedules for Dubai Metro, Dubai Tram, buses, and marine transport have also been rolled out.

It’s a familiar rhythm in Dubai. Days move slower during Ramadan. Evenings, on the other hand, come alive — mosques fill up, iftar tables stretch across homes and tents, cafés stay busy late into the night, and neighbourhood streets stay active well past sunset.

New paid parking timings during Ramadan

Public parking across Dubai will now operate in two paid periods from Monday to Saturday:

  • 8am to 6pm
  • 8pm to 12 midnight

This creates a free parking window from 6pm to 8pm, right around Maghrib prayer and iftar time.

It’s a small change on paper, but a big one in real life.

For families heading to iftar invitations, for residents going to the mosque, and for people stopping by local cafés or bakeries before breaking their fast, this removes one daily stress point. No rushing to parking meters. No worrying about fines. Just easier movement during the most important part of the evening.

Multi-storey parking facilities will continue to operate 24/7, offering round-the-clock access for residents in busy areas.

Dubai’s toll system, Salik, has also announced revised Ramadan timings, keeping road usage patterns aligned with the city’s seasonal routine.

Dubai Metro and Tram timings for Ramadan

Dubai Metro and Tram timings

Public transport plays a big role during Ramadan. Many residents shift their travel times to evenings, especially after iftar. To support this, updated schedules have been announced for Dubai Metro and Dubai Tram.

Dubai Metro (Red Line and Green Line)

  • Monday to Thursday: 5am to 12 midnight
  • Friday: 5am to 1am (next day)
  • Saturday: 5am to 12 midnight
  • Sunday: 8am to 12 midnight

The extended Friday service supports late-night prayers, shopping trips, and post-iftar outings across the city — from Deira and Bur Dubai to Downtown, Business Bay, and Dubai Marina connections.

Dubai Tram

  • Monday to Saturday: 6am to 1am (next day)
  • Sunday: 9am to 1am (next day)

For residents in areas like JBR, Dubai Marina, and Al Sufouh, the longer tram hours make evening movement easier — especially for iftar plans, mosque visits, and late dinners by the waterfront.

Buses, marine transport and service centres

Bus schedules will also shift for Ramadan. Commuters are advised to check the S’hail app for real-time updates and route-specific changes. Timings are adjusted around prayer hours and evening demand.

Marine transport services — including abras, water buses, and ferries — will follow revised schedules that reflect Ramadan travel patterns across coastal and creek areas.

RTA has also updated timings for:

  • Customer happiness centres
  • Vehicle inspection centres
  • Service facilities and service providers

These changes align with Ramadan working hours and daily prayer schedules, helping residents access services without disruption.

Moon sighting and the start of Ramadan

The UAE’s moon sighting committee will meet on February 17 to sight the Ramadan crescent. Saudi Arabia will also conduct moon sighting on the same day.

Once confirmed, Ramadan will officially begin, and all revised timings — for parking, transport, tolls, and services — will come fully into effect across the country.

Impact on daily life in Dubai

For residents, these updates make everyday routines smoother:

  • Easier mosque access during Maghrib
  • Stress-free parking during iftar hours
  • Better late-night public transport options
  • More flexibility for family visits and gatherings
  • Less congestion around key evening hotspots

This is how Dubai typically adapts during Ramadan — not through dramatic changes, but through practical adjustments that fit daily life. The city slows gently during the day and comes alive after sunset, creating a rhythm that residents know well.

From neighbourhood masjids to iftar tents, from family majlis gatherings to late-night cafés, the city moves in a different, calmer flow — and these transport changes support that shift naturally.

Dubai’s revised Ramadan parking timings bring a simple but meaningful change. Two free parking hours every evening. Better access during iftar. Extended public transport services at night. All are designed to make daily life easier during the holy month.

As Ramadan approaches, residents can expect smoother evenings, easier movement, and transport systems that reflect the city’s Ramadan rhythm — thoughtful, calm, and community-focused.
