Dubai Opens New Al Qudra Road Bridge to Cut Traffic Delays by More Than Half

RTA’s 600-metre bridge improves traffic flow between Arabian Ranches and Dubai Studio City, easing daily commutes.

Anyone who regularly drives through Al Qudra Road knows how busy it can get, especially during morning and evening peak hours. That daily frustration is now easing.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially opened a new 600-metre bridge on Al Qudra Road, a key upgrade designed to reduce congestion and improve traffic movement across one of the city’s fastest-growing areas.

The bridge sits at the intersection connecting Arabian Ranches and Dubai Studio City, a route heavily used by residents, school traffic, and professionals commuting towards Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and beyond.

With the bridge now open, thousands of drivers are already seeing smoother journeys and shorter waiting times.

A New Bridge Opens on a Key Dubai Route

The new Al Qudra Road bridge features four lanes and allows vehicles to pass through the junction without stopping at traffic signals.

According to RTA, the upgrade has increased the junction’s traffic capacity by 191 per cent, raising the flow from 6,600 vehicles per hour to around 19,200 vehicles per hour. Waiting times have dropped sharply too, reduced by more than half.

For drivers, this translates into fewer queues, less idling, and more predictable commute times.

This intersection is part of a wider road corridor that links Emirates Road, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. It serves residential communities, schools, and commercial areas that continue to grow every year.

How the Bridge Is Cutting Delays?

For residents of Arabian Ranches, Motor City, Studio City, DAMAC Hills, Mudon, and Town Square, this bridge directly affects daily routines.

Morning school runs. Office commutes. Weekend drives out towards Al Qudra lakes or cycling tracks. All of it depends on smooth road access.

Previously, traffic signals at the junction caused long backups, especially during peak hours. With the bridge now in use, vehicles move continuously, reducing stress and saving time.

It also improves safety by separating traffic flows and minimising sudden stops — a common cause of minor accidents during rush hour.

l Qudra Road Upgrade

Part of a Bigger Al Qudra Road Upgrade

This bridge is not a standalone project. It forms part of RTA’s larger Al Qudra Road development plan, aimed at keeping pace with Dubai’s expanding residential zones.

Upcoming phases include:

  • Additional bridges at nearby intersections
  • Wider road sections to support higher traffic volumes
  • Improved service roads for local access

Once all stages are completed, RTA estimates travel time along the corridor could be reduced by up to 70 per cent, benefiting more than 400,000 residents and visitors who use the road regularly.

These upgrades also support Dubai’s broader transport strategy — making sure infrastructure grows alongside communities, not after congestion sets in.

Making Daily Travel Easier Across Dubai

RTA has confirmed that more traffic improvements along Al Qudra Road will roll out in the coming weeks.

Drivers can expect:

  • Better lane discipline through redesigned junctions
  • Fewer traffic signals on high-movement routes
  • Smoother links between major highways

As always, motorists are advised to follow updated road signage and allow a short adjustment period as traffic patterns settle.

How This Fits into RTA’s Wider Road Plan?

Dubai’s road upgrades may feel routine, but they play a huge role in everyday life.

Reduced congestion means:

  • More time at home
  • Less fuel consumption
  • Lower stress during daily travel

For a city that moves fast, efficient roads matter just as much as new towers and developments.

The Al Qudra Road bridge is another reminder of how Dubai continues to invest in practical infrastructure that directly improves the quality of life.

The opening of the new Al Qudra Road bridge is a clear win for Dubai drivers. Faster movement, shorter waits, and smoother commutes are already being felt across surrounding communities.

As more upgrades come online, Al Qudra Road is set to become one of the city’s most efficient travel corridors.
