In a move aimed at enhancing road connectivity and easing congestion, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially opened a critical new bridge connecting Jumeirah Street to Al Mina Street in the direction of the Infinity Bridge. The upgrade will cut journey times by 67%, ensuring smoother travel in a busy city corridor.
A Vital Link Toward the Infinity Bridge
The 1,500m bridge has two lanes each way, linking Jumeirah and Al Mina while improving access to the Infinity Bridge.
This addition forms part of the larger Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project, which is one of the most ambitious road infrastructure undertakings by the RTA, valued at over AED 5.3 billion. Once completed, the full corridor will span 13 kilometers and is expected to serve over one million people.
The new bridge boosts connectivity, especially in fast-growing Dubai areas, said an RTA official. “It’s not just about reducing travel times, but also about building a sustainable and efficient transportation network for future generations.”
What the New Bridge Means for Motorists

The opening of this strategic link offers several immediate benefits to commuters and motorists navigating the busy area near the coastal parts of Dubai. According to the RTA, the bridge will:
- Reduce peak-hour traffic congestion
- Cut travel times between Jumeirah and Deira by two-thirds
- Ease access to residential and commercial areas along the waterfront
- Improve emergency response times in nearby areas
Before the bridge, Jumeirah-Al Mina commuters faced long detours and rush-hour bottlenecks. The new route offers a direct, time-saving alternative.
Part of a Larger Mobility Vision
The bridge is just one element of a broader vision under the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan. This citywide initiative aims to accommodate population growth while delivering world-class infrastructure, mobility, and sustainable urban spaces. The Al Shindagha Corridor showcases RTA’s commitment to smart, sustainable transport.
The corridor includes enhancements to more than 15 intersections and upgrades to roads serving Deira, Bur Dubai, and key coastal districts. When complete, the project will handle 20,000+ vehicles per hour.
Enhancing the Experience Near Infinity Bridge
Located near the entrance to the Infinity Bridge—an architectural marvel that boasts a 42-metre-high infinity-shaped arch—the new bridge will also contribute to a better experience for those heading toward the waterfront, Dubai Maritime City, or nearby heritage districts.
With the Infinity Bridge already serving as a vital cross-creek route between Deira and Bur Dubai, the new feeder bridge will allow for smoother access and reduce reliance on older, heavily congested roads.
Commitment to Road Safety and Innovation
In line with RTA’s road safety and design standards, the bridge incorporates modern lighting, directional signage, and pedestrian-friendly safety features. Its construction involved advanced engineering techniques aimed at minimizing disruption during development while ensuring long-term durability.
Dubai’s ongoing investments in its road network consistently rank it among the top cities worldwide for infrastructure efficiency. According to recent global indexes, the city’s roads are not only among the safest but also among the most technologically advanced.
The RTA has indicated that more upgrades along the Al Shindagha Corridor are in the pipeline, with the final phase expected to be completed by 2027. This will include additional bridges, road widening, and smart traffic management systems.
As the city prepares for more large-scale developments, including the expansion of the Dubai Maritime City and Jumeirah’s tourism districts, seamless road connectivity will continue to play a pivotal role in sustaining economic and population growth.
