In anticipation of the much-anticipated Dubai New Year’s Eve celebrations, the Dubai Police have unveiled a comprehensive plan, including the closure of major roads starting at 4 pm on December 31. Abdul Rehman Obaid Juma Al Falasi, a senior official from the traffic department at the Dubai Police, urges residents and visitors to plan their journeys in advance, particularly as the city gears up for this grand event.
Dubai New Year’s Eve: Road Closures Schedule
The road closures will follow a meticulously planned schedule:
- Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard: Closure set to commence at 4 pm.
- Upper Level of the Financial Road: Closure at 8 pm, with the lower level shutting down at 4 pm.
- Al Asayel Road: Closure scheduled for 4 pm.
These road closures will reroute traffic to the iconic Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai’s vital highway. The Sheikh Zayed Road is earmarked for full closure at 9 pm, impacting all types of traffic.

Celebratory Hotspots Across the Emirate
Preparations for the Dubai New Year’s Eve festivities are in full swing across Dubai, with 32 designated celebration locations, including iconic spots such as Hatta, Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab, and Festival City.

Event Preparation Committee’s Diligence
The Event Preparation Committee has worked diligently on the Dubai New Year’s Eve event plan for the past three months. Robust Police Deployment
To ensure a seamless and secure celebration, the Dubai Police will deploy close to 1,300 vehicles to cover all 32 celebration venues.
