Dubai to Celebrate a Full Month Ahead of UAE National Day

National Month returns to Dubai with cultural showcases, light displays and heritage events

Dubai has confirmed that National Month celebrations will return this year, running from UAE Flag Day on 3 November through to Eid Al Etihad on 2 December. The initiative brings together government bodies, private entities and community organisations for a series of cultural and creative events designed to honour the nation’s spirit of unity.

This is the second consecutive year that Dubai will dedicate an entire month to mark the occasion. Once again, the campaign will carry the theme #ZayedAndRashid, in tribute to the founding fathers of the UAE, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum.

A celebration rooted in national pride

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, explained that the campaign reflects the city’s collective vision. He described National Month as an opportunity to showcase unity, loyalty and belonging, while also acknowledging the legacy of the leaders who laid the nation’s foundations.

Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, highlighted how last year’s campaign drew record levels of public engagement. With more than two billion social media interactions, it underscored the strong connection between residents and the values of the Union.

This year’s edition is expected to expand further, with more venues, more cultural activations and deeper community participation across the emirate.

highlights expected this year

Although the full calendar has yet to be released, early indicators suggest that the celebrations will follow the success of 2024. Residents can anticipate a wide range of experiences:

  • Spectacular light and drone shows across landmarks, including Burj Khalifa, Dubai Frame and Expo City
  • Traditional heritage events such as storytelling, music, and art exhibitions, reflecting Emirati culture
  • Family-friendly attractions, including the return of the Flag Garden and installations in community spaces
  • Concerts and performances featuring regional artists and cultural showcases
  • City-wide decorations and activations in malls, neighbourhoods and public venues

Last year, some of the most prominent venues that participated included Al Wasl Dome, Dubai Festival City Mall and City Walk. A similar spread of destinations is expected this year, ensuring that residents across the emirate can take part in the celebrations.

dates to note

  • 3 November – UAE Flag Day: Marks the official start of National Month and the first of a series of celebrations across the emirate.
  • 2 December – Eid Al Etihad / UAE National Day: The culmination of the month, with public events, performances, and city-wide displays.
  • Public holidays: Residents should note that the 2nd and 3rd of December are official holidays, providing opportunities to attend larger events or family programmes.

Planning is advised, as roads and public spaces near landmarks are likely to be busier during the evening shows.

Tips for residents and visitors

  • Arrive early: Popular shows and installations can get crowded; early arrival ensures better viewing and participation.
  • Choose family-friendly venues: Some events are geared toward local communities, while others are more suited for open public gatherings.
  • Engage online: Using the campaign hashtag #ZayedAndRashid helps residents share their experiences and connect digitally with the community.

Celebrating unity and heritage

Dubai’s National Month represents more than a series of events—it is a reflection of the city’s dedication to cultural pride, heritage preservation, and national solidarity. From landmark light displays to grassroots community programmes, the celebrations provide opportunities for residents to participate actively and express their pride in the UAE’s achievements.

Whether attending a heritage performance, walking through the Flag Garden, or enjoying a light show at a city landmark, the month-long festivities promise to leave a lasting impression on residents and visitors alike.
