Dubai Greenlights Massive Expansion of Al Maktoum International Airport

World's largest capacity airport with an estimated budget of Dhs128 billion

Dubai is gearing up for a major expansion of Al Maktoum International Airport, set to make it the world’s largest capacity airport. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced the green light for the ambitious project, marking a significant milestone for the emirate’s development.

Bigger Than Ever

The new terminals at Al Maktoum International Airport will dwarf the current Dubai International Airport, already known as the world’s busiest airport for international passengers. With an estimated budget of Dhs128 billion, the expansion aims to revolutionize air travel infrastructure and accommodate up to 260 million passengers.

State-of-the-Art Facilities

The project includes over 400 aircraft gates, five of which will boast the highest operational specifications in the industry. Additionally, five-passenger terminal buildings will be constructed, setting new standards for aviation infrastructure and passenger convenience.

The current Al Maktoum International Airport, also known as Dubai World Central, has been operational since 2010, laying the groundwork for the ambitious expansion ahead.
