Dubai celebrates Saudi National Day with special passport stamp

A symbolic gesture at Dubai Airport highlights the UAE-Saudi bond as the Kingdom marks its 95th National Day

Dubai’s authorities greeted travellers arriving in the city on Tuesday, 23 September, with a thoughtful touch in honour of Saudi Arabia’s 95th National Day.

Passengers passing through Dubai International Airport received a special commemorative passport stamp featuring the official Saudi National Day logo and the phrase “UAE-Saudi, Together Forever”.

The initiative, organised by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai, was a reminder of the close ties shared by the two nations. For many visitors, the stamp served as more than a travel formality—it became a meaningful keepsake marking a significant day.

Passport stamps as cultural touchpoints

Dubai has increasingly embraced the use of commemorative passport stamps to mark festive and cultural moments. Earlier this year, authorities welcomed travellers arriving for Eid Al Adha with a unique “Eid in Dubai” stamp across all entry points, including airports and the Hatta border crossing.

These small yet impactful initiatives add warmth to the travel experience while celebrating occasions that matter to people in the region. By extending this gesture on Saudi National Day, Dubai reinforced its message of unity with its closest neighbour.

Abu Dhabi also joined the celebrations by hosting special activities for Saudi visitors. Yas Island and Zayed International Airport created a festive setting for arriving passengers, complete with live character greetings from Warner Bros. World favourites Tom and Jerry. Officials also offered gift boxes to female travellers, adding a thoughtful touch to the welcome.

These efforts reflect the UAE’s long-standing commitment to hospitality, ensuring that Saudi guests felt recognised and celebrated from the moment they landed.

Messages from the leadership

On the occasion of Saudi Arabia’s National Day, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice-President Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and other Rulers of the Emirates sent congratulatory messages to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

These messages reinforced the strength of political and cultural ties that have consistently defined UAE-Saudi relations. The connection between the two countries goes beyond formal diplomacy, extending into trade, security, tourism, and community exchanges that impact everyday life.

Together forever: more than a phrase

The words “Together Forever” have been used for years to describe the deep relationship between the UAE and Saudi Arabia. It represents a partnership built on shared values, mutual respect, and a vision for progress in the region.

The UAE recognizes and celebrates Saudi National Day, highlighting the strong friendship and shared history between the two countries.

Public gestures like the passport stamp give that sentiment a tangible form, making it visible to every traveller who arrives on such a day.

Symbolism in everyday moments

For those arriving in Dubai on 23 September, the commemorative stamp was more than a mark of entry. It offered a unique memento, reflecting the UAE’s approach of blending tradition with modernity. Through such gestures, the city shows that major occasions can be celebrated in ways that touch people on a personal level.

As Saudi Arabia continues to expand its global presence and the UAE strengthens its role as a regional hub, the two nations shared celebrations highlight their unity and forward-looking outlook.

The passport stamp may appear small, but its symbolism carries weight. It reflects unity, respect, and a spirit of celebration that defines UAE-Saudi relations. Alongside the festive welcomes in Abu Dhabi and the official messages from leaders, the gesture added another chapter to the story of enduring friendship between the two Gulf nations.

For travelers, it was a memorable reminder that even the simplest details in the UAE can hold a deeper meaning.
