the new regulations must be implied before 31 october
The Dubai Maritime Authority (DMA) has launched new rules for companies and individuals renting out Jet Skis. According to Circular No. 13 of the Year 2023 issued on May 11, companies and individuals renting jet skis must mount tracking and remote-control systems.
In addition, companies must programme the jet skis in accordance with the restricted speed zones. Authorities also added that trainers must hold a training certificate for personal use of watercraft. The licence would be issued by the Dubai Maritime Authority. All companies must comply with the new regulations before October 31, 2023, to avoid penalties. Those who fail to comply to the new rules will face penalities and fines.
The move comes in line with Law No. 3 of 2023 on Dubai Maritime Authority, issued by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The DMA issued Directive No. 1 of 2023 earlier this month regarding the transparency of local sea container charges in Dubai. This directive requires all service providers to submit their local sea container charges to the DMA via the safe Dubai Trade Single Window Portal.
