Dubai Airport Changes Flights Due to Heavy Rain and Floods

Inbound Flights Diverted

Due to intense rain and floods hitting the UAE, Dubai International Airport (DXB) has made a big change: they’re diverting all incoming flights for now. This decision was made on Tuesday evening, April 16, to ensure safety for everyone.

Departures Still Going

Don’t worry if you’re planning to leave Dubai. Departing flights are still happening as scheduled, so you can stick to your travel plans.

Why the Change?

The UAE has been hit hard by heavy rain and thunderstorms, causing lots of flooding. Because of this, DXB had to pause operations for about 25 minutes initially. But things got so intense that they decided to divert all incoming flights to other airports.

What Should Passengers Do?

If you’re flying into Dubai, you’ll need to check with your airline to see where your flight is headed now. It’s also a good idea to give yourself extra time to get to the airport, just in case. If you can, use the Dubai Metro to avoid traffic.
