Extended Metro Hours for Easy Travel
To assist passengers during the rainy days, the Dubai Metro will extend its service hours on May 1 and 2. The Red Line will operate from midnight until 5 am, stopping at selected stations only. This extended service aims to ease transportation to and from the airport amidst potentially challenging road conditions.
Convenient Taxi Services
Passengers using the Dubai Metro can rely on taxis stationed at specific metro stops for hassle-free transportation to their final destinations. GGICO and Centrepoint stations will offer taxi services for the convenience of travelers.
Flight Cancellations and Delays
On May 2, adverse weather conditions have led to reduced flight movements at Dubai Airport, resulting in delays and cancellations. Emirates has announced the cancellation of several flights, including routes between Dubai and Istanbul, Johannesburg, Nairobi, Cairo, Amman, and Singapore (with EK353 departing on May 3, 0050hrs). Passengers are advised to expect delays as flights are rescheduled.

Emirates’ Travel Advisory
Emirates has also issued a travel advisory, advising outbound passengers to allow extra time for their journey to the airport. They suggest considering the Dubai Metro as a convenient transportation option to avoid potential traffic congestion.
Weather Forecast and Past Disruptions
While heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected on Thursday, May 2, the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) assures that the upcoming weather conditions will likely be less severe compared to the record-breaking rainfall experienced in April. During the previous extreme weather event on April 16, DXB and Emirates faced significant disruptions, with numerous flight cancellations and diversions affecting operations.
With proactive measures in place, DXB and Emirates aim to minimize the impact of the impending weather on travel and airport operations. By staying informed about flight statuses, planning for possible delays, and utilizing alternative transportation options like the Dubai Metro, passengers can navigate the challenges of adverse weather conditions with greater ease and safety.
