Disney’s First Middle East Theme Park to Open on Yas Island

Abu Dhabi's Yas Island will soon host Disney's first-ever theme park in the Middle East, promising a world-class experience for visitors.

Disney is making history with its first-ever theme park in the Middle East, set to be built on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. The announcement was made during a high-profile event attended by His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council. This landmark project is part of a strategic partnership between The Walt Disney Company and Miral, Abu Dhabi’s premier creator of immersive destinations.

The new Disney Theme Park Resort aims to bring the iconic magic of Disney to the heart of the UAE, reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s status as a world-class tourist destination. With this development, Yas Island, already home to popular attractions like Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World, and Yas Waterworld, is set to become one of the most iconic entertainment hubs in the world.

A Bold Vision for Abu Dhabi’s Tourism Future

The introduction of Disney’s first theme park in the region marks a significant step in Abu Dhabi’s ambitious tourism strategy. His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan emphasized that the project aligns with the UAE’s National Strategy for Cultural and Creative Industries, focusing on economic diversification and cultural growth. He highlighted that such projects are crucial to solidifying the UAE’s global reputation as a leader in leisure and family entertainment.

Strategically positioned on the Yas Island waterfront, the Disney resort will serve as a gateway for tourists across the Middle East, Africa, India, Asia, and Europe. This marks Disney’s seventh global destination after successful ventures in California, Florida, Tokyo, Paris, Hong Kong, and Shanghai.

Crafting a Magical Experience

Miral and Disney are partnering to create an unforgettable experience that brings Disney’s storytelling to life in Abu Dhabi. Miral, known for its world-class developments on Yas Island, will oversee the entire construction and development process. Upon completion, Miral will also manage the resort, leveraging its expertise in operating top-tier entertainment venues across the UAE.

Disney, on the other hand, will take the creative lead, ensuring the park is infused with its signature storytelling magic. Bob Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company, expressed his excitement about the project, noting that it presents a unique opportunity for Disney to engage with families in the Middle East. “This new theme park experience will be a cultural, entertainment, and technological marvel, uniquely positioned to captivate families from around the globe,” he said.

A Visionary Design with world-class Technology

One of the most anticipated aspects of the Disney Theme Park Resort on Yas Island is its innovative design. Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences, hinted at a bold new concept for the park. According to him, the resort will feature a “modern castle” that redefines traditional theme park architecture. “The concept for this resort will push the boundaries of theme park design, showcasing groundbreaking technology and visionary architecture,” he shared.

The park will not only introduce new attractions but will also reflect Disney’s commitment to sustainability and modern technology. Visitors can expect state-of-the-art entertainment experiences, themed rides, interactive shows, and immersive environments that transport them into Disney’s magical worlds.

Supporting Abu Dhabi’s Global Tourism Appeal

Disney is developing a Theme Park Resort that will significantly boost Abu Dhabi’s tourism sector. Yas Island has already secured its place as a premier destination, and the new Disney park will further enhance its global standing.

His Excellency Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of Miral, described the collaboration as a perfect blend of tradition and innovation. “Abu Dhabi stands as a unique model where authentic heritage meets a bold vision for the future. What we are creating with Disney in Abu Dhabi is a whole new world of imagination — an experience that will inspire generations across the region and the world,” he stated.

Family Entertainment in the Middle East

The introduction of Disney Theme Park Resort is not just a win for Abu Dhabi but for the entire region. It ushers in a new era of family entertainment, attracting global visitors and redefining leisure tourism in the Middle East. Disney and Miral are transforming Yas Island into a world-renowned destination for unforgettable family adventures.

As construction progresses, excitement grows for one of the UAE’s boldest entertainment projects—where imagination meets innovation.
