While one half of Bollywood was drenched in colors and laughter, the other was cloaked in sorrow. The festival of Holi turned bittersweet as the industry bid farewell to veteran actor Deb Mukherjee, father of filmmaker Ayan Mukerji and uncle to Kajol and Rani Mukerji. A stalwart in the industry, Deb Mukherjee’s passing left a void, and Bollywood’s biggest names gathered to pay their last respects.
Stars Come Together To Bid Goodbye To Deb Mukherjee

Kajol Rushed to Be by Her Cousin’s Side
For Kajol, it was more than just saying goodbye to an uncle; it was parting with a guiding figure she held close, especially after losing her father. Over the years, she and Deb Mukherjee had been spotted together at Durga Puja celebrations, sharing warm moments.
Ranbir-Alia Cut Their Holiday Short
Just hours before, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt were soaking in the sun in Alibaug, but when tragedy struck, they wasted no time returning to Mumbai. The duo shares a close bond with Ayan Mukerji, having worked together on Brahmastra. They were spotted arriving in a hurry, skipping their usual smiles for the paparazzi.
Karan Johar: A Director, A Friend
Filmmaker Karan Johar, who has collaborated with Ayan Mukerji on multiple films, rushed in to be there for his dear friend. The filmmaker, known for his grand gestures, made sure to be there when it mattered most. Reports suggest the funeral rites were scheduled for 4 PM in Juhu.
As the day progressed, more familiar faces arrived. Jaya Bachchan and Shweta Bachchan Nanda walked in, their presence offering comfort to the grieving family.
Anil Kapoor, Kiran Rao, and Hrithik Roshan were also spotted, with Hrithik notably making his way in despite a leg injury sustained during dance rehearsals for War 2.
Salim Khan and Ranbir Share a Moment
Salim Khan, father of Salman Khan, was also among those who came to pay his respects. In a heartfelt moment, Ranbir Kapoor was seen greeting and embracing the veteran writer before heading inside.
Music composer Pritam Chakraborty and singer Shaan, along with his wife Radhika, arrived to bid adieu to the legend. The Mukherjee family has always had strong ties to the music industry, making their presence all the more significant.
