Riyadh’s First Arthouse Cinema Opens Its Doors

Riyadh is now home to its first-ever arthouse cinema, Cinehouse Riyadh. The newly launched venue is a haven for movie lovers, offering an intimate space dedicated to independent and international films. The project, spearheaded by Saudi film producer Faisal Baltyuor, is a significant step in enriching the Kingdom’s cultural and artistic scene.

A Cinematic Experience Like No Other

Cinehouse Riyadh features three exclusive screening rooms designed for comfort and immersion. Each hall is equipped with advanced 4K laser projectors and an Atmos surround sound system to provide a premium viewing experience. With seating capacities of 18, 26, and 30, the cozy setup ensures every guest enjoys a tailored cinematic journey.

A Tribute to Saudi Cinema

The inaugural screening at Cinehouse was the 1975 documentary, Development of Riyadh City, by renowned Saudi director Abdullah Al-Muheisen. This choice pays homage to the roots of Saudi filmmaking while setting the tone for Cinehouse’s commitment to celebrating local talent.

The cinema will also serve as a hub for budding filmmakers, offering mentorship opportunities and workshops led by industry professionals. This initiative aligns with the broader goal of fostering and showcasing Saudi talent on a global stage.

A Blend of Culture and Cuisine

Beyond its cinematic offerings, Cinehouse Riyadh takes the experience further with a fine dining restaurant and a specialty coffee shop. Curated by a Saudi chef, the menu complements the artistic atmosphere, making Cinehouse a complete cultural outing for guests.

A Diverse Lineup of Films

Cinehouse curates a unique selection of films that cater to varied tastes, including international classics, modern masterpieces, and independent gems. Current screenings include titles like Home Alone, Interstellar, Taxi Driver, It Must Be Heaven, and Casablanca. This diversity ensures there’s something for everyone, whether they’re fans of nostalgic hits or thought-provoking indie cinema.

Location and Accessibility

Conveniently located in Riyadh’s Ar Rabi district, Cinehouse offers easy access for locals and visitors. Tickets are priced starting from SAR90, making it an affordable yet luxurious entertainment option. The venue also promises an engaging community space where art, culture, and cinema intersect.

Transforming Saudi Arabia’s Film Scene

With Cinehouse, Faisal Baltyuor realizes his vision of creating a space for cinephiles and creatives alike. His previous works, including critically acclaimed films like From the Ashes and Within Sand, demonstrate his passion for storytelling and dedication to uplifting the Saudi film industry.

Cinehouse Riyadh stands as a testament to the Kingdom’s evolving cultural identity, bridging the gap between tradition and modernity. It’s more than just a cinema; it’s a celebration of art, talent, and storytelling.
