Careem’s Golden Diwali Gift for Indian Expats

How Careem Pay is Helping Indian Expats Send Money Home and Win Gold This Diwali

This Diwali, Indian nationals in the UAE have an exciting chance to win gold as Careem Pay launches a limited-time offer for those sending remittances back to India. If you plan to send money to family and friends, Careem’s new Diwali promotion could be the perfect way to make your gift even more special.

What’s the Offer?

Between October 20 and October 31, 2024, first-time users of Careem Pay’s remittance service who send AED 50,000 or more to India can claim a voucher worth AED 320 (around ?7,200) from Tanishq, a leading gold retailer in the region. This voucher represents the value of 1 gram of 24-carat gold, based on the spot rate on October 10, 2024.

In the spirit of Diwali and the tradition of buying gold on Dhanteras, Careem is giving Indian expats a chance to celebrate the festival of lights by gifting gold to their loved ones. Dhanteras, which falls on October 29 this year, is considered an auspicious day to purchase gold for good luck and prosperity, making this promotion both timely and culturally relevant.

How to Participate

To qualify, users must transfer a total of AED 50,000 (about ?1.13 million) or more to India using Careem Pay between October 20 and October 31, 2024. Once you hit the target, you’ll receive a voucher code within six business days via email or SMS. This code can be redeemed at Tanishq Middle East stores across the UAE, allowing you to purchase gold or other jewelry.

However, acting quickly is essential, as only 600 vouchers are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The voucher will remain valid for 90 days, so plan your gold purchase soon after receiving it.

A Festive Tradition with Modern Technology

During Diwali, sending money back home is an essential way for expats to stay connected with family and support loved ones. This promotion marries the long-standing tradition of gold gifting with modern remittance technology, enabling Indians in the UAE to make a meaningful gesture while taking advantage of a safe and secure way to send money.

Careem Pay, in partnership with Lulu Exchange, offers a user-friendly service for international money transfers to India, Pakistan, and the UK, with no fees attached. Lulu Exchange processes remittances quickly and securely, usually within a few minutes to a day, depending on the recipient’s bank.

Importance of gold in this festival

Gold holds significant cultural and economic value in India, especially during Diwali. People buy gold on Dhanteras to bring prosperity for the year ahead. Gold also serves as a reliable investment for many families. By offering a gold voucher, Careem Pay is not only encouraging more significant remittances but also honoring this cultural tradition. Given that gold prices hit an all-time high recently, this offer is particularly appealing to those already planning to send large amounts of money home.

Secure Transfers and Trust

Careem’s Vice President of Careem Pay, Mohammad Elsaadi, highlighted that the promotion is about more than just sending money; it’s about trust and tradition. “Gold holds a special place in the hearts of so many celebrating Diwali, and we’re proud to contribute to such a cherished tradition,” Elsaadi said. He emphasized that this offer is a token of appreciation for the trust Indian expats place in Careem Pay’s remittance service.

Things to Keep in Mind

  • Eligibility: This promotion is only available to first-time users of Careem Pay’s remittance service during the campaign period.
  • Minimum Transfer Amount: AED 50,000 or more must be sent to India, either in a single transaction or multiple transactions, to qualify.
  • Voucher Value: AED 320, equivalent to 1g of 24-carat gold based on rates from October 10, 2024.
  • Limited Vouchers: Only 600 vouchers are available, so it’s crucial to act quickly.
  • Redemption: The voucher can be redeemed at Tanishq stores in the UAE within 90 days of issuance.

Careem’s golden Diwali promotion adds a layer of excitement and cultural relevance to the remittance process. By combining modern technology with traditional values, Careem is offering Indian expats a unique way to connect with their families back home while celebrating the spirit of Diwali. If you’re planning to send money home, this might be your golden opportunity.
