Ramadan has officially begun and if you’re travelling to the UK, you’ve got a sweet surprise onboard! Passengers travelling on British airways flights can now enjoy Iftar in the sky. The Iftar meal can be availed on BA flights on select routes. Read on for more deets.
Extending their support to travellers who are fasting this Ramadan, British Airways has launched in-flight Iftar. The airways announced that the Iftar meal would be available on various routes to and from London, including Kuwait, Bahrain, Riyadh and Dubai.

British airlines will cater for customers flying during the fast-breaks times by offering them Arabic dates and Laban (buttermilk). In addition, the cabin crew will also try to save a meal for passengers until they can break their fasts.
Panagiotis Theodotou, the Regional Commercial Manager (Middle East and Pakistan) of British Airways said they understand the significance of Ramadan for many of their customers and have decided to offer in-flight Iftar to and from London. The in-flight Iftar can be availed on the following routes to and from London.
The airline’s in-flight Iftar service will be provided on the following routes to and from Heathrow:
- Dubai (UAE)
- Kuwait
- Islamabad (Pakistan)
- Riyadh (Saudi Arabia)
- Bahrain
- Doha (Qatar)
- Cairo (Egypt)
- Algiers (Algeria)
- Amman (Jordan)
- Marrakech (Morocco)
- Tirana (Albania)
- Antalya (Turkey)
- Dalaman (Turkey)
- Istanbul (Turkey)
Besides, the service will also be available to passengers traveling between Gatwick and Doha. BA is not the online airline to provide Iftar meals to fasting passengers. Previously, Emirates, Etihad and Qatar Airways also launched In-flight Iftar services.
Qatar Airways’ Iftar bag includes a bottle of water, fresh Laban, Medjool Dates, Chicken Musakhan Wrap, Falafel Wrap and Baklava. The Iftar bag will be available on selected routes across Algeria, Bangladesh, Djibouti, Egypt, India, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates. And to ensure that Iftar timings are met, the Qatar Airways cabin crew will announce the commencement of this service and serve the Iftar meal bags at the appropriate time during the flight.
Etihad passengers can break their fast with laban, water and dates, or savour their delicious range of dishes created in collaboration with Emirati Chef Khaled Alsaadi. And when it comes to Emirates, the airline has launched thoughtful, nutritionally-balanced Iftar meal boxes. Fasting passengers across all cabin classes to select Emirates destinations will receive this box.
All these airlines will be serving meals across all classes throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
