The Indian film industry is in a state of mourning as the news of veteran actor-filmmaker Satish Kaushik’s sudden demise due to a heart attack broke out. Satish, who was just 66, passed away in the wee hours of Wednesday, leaving his friends and colleagues in shock and disbelief. Anupam Kher, Kangana Ranaut, Manoj Bajpayee, and many others extended their condolences and paid tribute to the late actor.
Satish began his career in theatre and went on to become a versatile actor, director, producer, comedian, and screenwriter. He graduated from the prestigious National School of Drama and Film and Television Institute of India. He appeared in several popular Bollywood movies such as “Jaane Bhi Do Yaro,” “Mandi,” “Woh 7 Din,” and “Mr. India,” where he played the memorable character Calendar.
However, what made his sudden demise even more shocking was the fact that he had just celebrated the Holi festival with his friends in the industry a day before. Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi hosted a Holi bash at their residence in Mumbai, which was attended by many Bollywood celebrities, including Satish Kaushik. Pictures from the event showed Satish having a great time, smeared in vibrant colours, and enjoying the festivities with his friends. Little did anyone know that it would be his last Holi celebration.
The news of his sudden death left everyone heartbroken, and his close friend Anupam Kher took to Instagram to express his grief. Kher and Satish had been friends for 45 years, and he wrote a touching tribute to his best friend, saying, “Such a sudden full stop on a friendship of 45 years!! Life will NEVER be the same without you SATISH! Om Shanti!”
Actor Kangana Ranaut, who had worked with Satish in “Emergency,” also shared her condolences and called him a “kind and genuine man.” She tweeted, “He was my biggest cheerleader, a very successful actor, and director. I loved directing him in Emergency. He will be missed. Om Shanti.”
Manoj Bajpayee, another popular actor, expressed his shock and grief and tweeted, “Completely shocked to read this! What a great loss for all of us and his family! Condolences to his family and friends! May you rest in peace Satish Bhai!”
Javed Akhtar also shared his grief, reminding everyone that Satish was younger than him and it wasn’t his time to go.
Rajkummar Rao, who had worked with Satish in the past, hailed him as one of India’s finest artists and lamented that his passing was too soon.
Actor Ali Fazal, who had just celebrated Holi with Satish two days before his death, shared his last pictures with the veteran artist and called life uncertain.
Other stars who expressed their condolences include Johny Lever, Salman Khan, and Karan Johar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also mourned the loss of Satish, calling him a creative genius who won hearts with his acting and directing.
Satish will be remembered for his memorable characters and contributions to Indian cinema. Kaushik’s sudden demise has left a void in the Indian film industry that cannot be filled. He was a talented actor, a great human being, and a true inspiration to many. As the entertainment industry mourns his passing, his legacy will live on through the films he created and the lives he touched. Rest in peace, Satish Kaushik ji.
