In honour of World Autism Day on April 2nd, the Dubai Autism Centre has kicked off its 18th annual Autism Awareness Campaign. This month-long initiative, supported by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, aims to shed light on autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and promote understanding and support for individuals affected by it.
Theme: Trusting Parents, Empowering Kids
Under the theme “Trusting Parents, Empowering Kids,” the campaign emphasizes the importance of believing in the abilities of children with autism and empowering them to thrive. Mohammed Al Emadi, Director General of the Dubai Autism Centre, stresses the significance of this message and announces a series of events and activities planned throughout the month to raise awareness.
Activities to Look Forward to
Throughout the campaign, various activities are planned, including Ramadan Awareness Nights, workshops tailored for mainstream teachers, and educational sessions for public and private sector organizations. These initiatives aim to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for individuals with autism, fostering a sense of community acceptance and understanding.

Utilizing Different Platforms
To reach a wider audience, the campaign will utilize mass media, cinemas, and a network of over 2000 digital screens across the UAE, including popular retail outlets such as Union Coops and Aswaaq supermarkets.
Landmarks Illuminating in Blue
As part of the global observance of World Autism Day, prominent landmarks across Dubai, including the Burj Khalifa, Dubai Frame, Mohammed bin Rashid Library, Ain Dubai, Burj Al Arab, and the Global Village, will illuminate in blue, symbolizing solidarity and support for individuals with autism.
Addressing Growing Prevalence
With recent studies indicating that one in 36 children is affected by spectrum disorder, the campaign aims to raise awareness and address the increasing prevalence of ASD.
Ramadan Evening Event
The campaign will culminate in a Ramadan Evening event on April 4th, featuring panel discussions organized by the Dubai Autism Centre in collaboration with the Community Development Authority in Dubai. These discussions will focus on the importance of family support and strategies to strengthen the bond between parents and the affected children.

Through its various activities and collaborative efforts, the 18th annual Autism Awareness Campaign in Dubai strives to create a more compassionate and inclusive society, where individuals with autism are embraced and supported in realizing their aspirations and dreams.
