Bollywood’s beloved actress is currently enjoying a successful streak with multiple upcoming movies. Known for her versatility and ability to effortlessly adapt to various challenging roles, Alia made her Bollywood debut in 2012 with Student of the Year, directed by Karan Johar. Since then, she has collaborated with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions on 11 films. Exciting news has now emerged that she has signed her 12th film under Karan Johar’s banner.
Alia Bhatt signs 12th film with Dharma Productions
According to a source, Alia Bhatt is set to explore new territory with an action-packed thriller directed by Vasan Bala and produced by Dharma Productions. Speaking to Pinkvilla a source revealed, “Vasan Bala is known for his distinct storytelling and unconventional narratives. His film with Alia Bhatt also promises to be a refreshing and unique cinematic experience for Hindi audiences.”
The source added, “Alia will be seen playing one of the most challenging roles of her career in this movie, and she is excited to go on this new adventure and explore a genre she hasn’t attempted before. Bala has written a cracking jailbreak story, and people who are aware of this project are already excited about it. This is going to be a heck of an interesting movie.”
While an official title for the film is yet to be announced, it will revolve around a gripping prison break narrative. The movie is currently in the pre-production phase and is scheduled to begin filming in September 2023.
The bond between the director and actor extends beyond mentorship. They consider each other friends and are a part of each other’s lives from birthdays to celebrations. Karan also proudly calls Alia his first child.
Currently, Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar are actively promoting their upcoming film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani alongside Ranveer Singh. The movie is set to release in theatres on July 28, 2023.
