Al Freej Fridge Campaign Returns for a Bigger and Cooler Summer

Ferjan Dubai’s summer campaign brings cold refreshments to thousands of outdoor workers across the emirate

The Al Freej Fridge Campaign has returned to Dubai this summer, and it’s back with even greater impact. Following a successful debut last year, which saw over a million refreshments distributed to workers across the city, the second edition of the campaign now aims to deliver 2 million chilled treats to those who need it most, Dubai’s outdoor workforce.

An Initiative Rooted in Solidarity

Led by Ferjan Dubai in collaboration with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), Suqia UAE, and the UAE Food Bank, the campaign is all about spreading relief and showing appreciation. These organisations have come together once again to ensure the people who help build and maintain the city are not forgotten during the sweltering summer months.

From construction labourers and cleaners to delivery riders, the campaign targets those who work under the harshest conditions. It’s a simple yet powerful gesture — providing workers with cold water, juice bottles, and frozen treats that offer instant respite.

Refrigerated Trucks and Community Fridges Across the City

To make distribution seamless, refrigerated vehicles are being deployed across Dubai’s busiest work zones. In addition, community fridges will be installed in several worker accommodation sites to ensure easy access to cold refreshments throughout the day.

The initiative also opens the door for local residents and volunteers to participate. Whether it’s by helping with distribution or lending their own vehicles, the campaign creates a space for community-driven support.

Running Until August to Combat Peak Heat

The Al Freej Fridge Campaign will continue until 23 August, aligning with the peak of Dubai’s summer. This timing is critical, as temperatures routinely soar past 40°C during these months, posing serious health risks to those working outdoors.

This initiative not only helps workers stay hydrated but also reinforces a culture of compassion a key value deeply rooted in Emirati society.

Backed by Volunteers, Residents, and Local Firms

What sets this campaign apart is the overwhelming support it receives from individuals and businesses alike. Community members are actively encouraged to step in, whether it’s through donation, logistics, or simply spreading awareness.

Participating firms have also shown keen interest, with many coordinating efforts to deliver refreshments to their on-site teams. It’s a collaborative effort that bridges public, private, and individual goodwill.

More Than Just Refreshments

Beyond providing cold drinks and snacks, this initiative carries a deeper message. It acknowledges the hard work of labourers and underscores the city’s commitment to improving worker welfare. During a time when exposure to extreme heat can pose serious health threats, these efforts play a key role in keeping the city’s most vulnerable safe and appreciated.

How You Can Get Involved

Residents who want to support the initiative can contact Ferjan Dubai or reach out to community teams managing the campaign. Whether you volunteer your time or resources, every small contribution helps make a big difference.
