Akshay Kumar Protects the Backbone of Action: 650 Stunt Artists Now Insured Under His Initiative

He’s not just the Khiladi of action or the king of comedy, Akshay Kumar has once again proven he’s the real hero off-screen too. With a track record of giving us films that pack a punch, tickle our funny bone, and leave us thinking, Mr. Khiladi has now gone and done something that deserves a standing ovation. Akshay has insured the lives of 650 stuntmen and stuntwomen across India. When he says “safety first,” he means it!

Akshay Kumar: Not All Heroes Wear Capes, Some Sign Insurance Papers

Khiladi Kumar just pulled off a boss move that deserves real applause. Following the tragic death of stuntman SM Raju in a Pa Ranjith and actor Arya’s upcoming Tamil film, Akshay decided that enough is enough. He’s stepping up for the people who risk it all. We’re talking flips, crashes, fire jumps, and high falls, just so we can gasp in theatres.

Stunt performers are the backbone of every action blockbuster. But more often than not, they’re overlooked, underpaid, and uninsured. Akshay’s initiative gives 650 of these daredevils proper health and accident insurance, and not just some basic cover, we’re talking Rs. 5 to Rs. 5.5 lakh in cashless treatment.

Vikram Singh Dahiya Speaks Out on Akshay’s Power Move

Stunt coordinator and action expert Vikram Singh Dahiya (credits: Jigra, Antim, Gunjan Saxena) couldn’t hold back his gratitude. He revealed, “Thanks to Akshay sir, around 650 to 700 stuntmen and action crew members in Bollywood are now covered under insurance. The policy includes both health and accident coverage. If a stunt performer is injured, whether on or off set, they can avail of cashless medical treatment up to ?5 to ?5.5 lakh.”

Akshay’s efforts are now being seen as the gold standard of what true influence looks like. He’s not waiting for someone else to lead the change. He’s doing it himself.

What’s next for Akshay?

Akshay Kumar will return as Raju in the upcoming Hera Pheri 2 and will also star in Bhooth Bangla with Paresh Rawal. Additionally, he is set to appear in an untitled Priyadarshan film alongside Saif Ali Khan.
