Delhi HC Steps In
On September 9, 2025, Justice Tejas Karia acknowledged the issue and hinted at issuing a cautionary order against those misusing her persona. Basically, the court isn’t looking the other way anymore.
Her senior advocate Sandeep Sethi didn’t hold back in court. He pointed out how Aishwarya’s likeness was being hijacked without consent, with shady people even making money off her face. He argued, “There can be no right in their favour to use her images, likeness or persona. A gentleman is collecting money merely by putting my name and face.” Even worse? Circulating fake, intimate pictures of her created by AI. He called it “very unfortunate,” but let’s be real — that’s putting it mildly.
The matter is now scheduled for another hearing with the joint registrar on November 7, and then a full-blown court hearing on January 15, 2026. So, stay tuned, this legal battle is just warming up.
If anything, this case screams how urgent it is to update India’s laws around deepfakes and AI misuse. It’s not just about celebrities anymore — tomorrow, it could be anyone’s identity getting digitally twisted.
