In a groundbreaking event for the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to inaugurate Abu Dhabi’s first traditional Hindu stone temple. The eagerly awaited opening of the Hindu temple, known as the BAPS Hindu Mandir, situated on 27 acres of land in Abu Mureikha, will be celebrated with a unique ‘Festival of Harmony’ on February 14, 2024.

This significant announcement follows a meeting between temple representatives, Pujya Swami Ishwarcharandas and Swami Brahmaviharidas, along with the board of directors, and Prime Minister Modi at his official residence in New Delhi. Promoting the Message of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’
The BAPS Hindu Mandir envisioned as a symbol of spiritual harmony, aims to promote the message of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,’ a Sanskrit phrase translating to ‘The World Is One Family.’ Modi highlighted the temple’s role as an ideal spiritual space, representing a convergence of diverse cultures and civilizations.

The inauguration ceremony, slated for February 14, will feature a Vedic ceremony led by His Holiness Pujya Mahant Swami Maharaj, an exclusive, invitation-only event.
Artistic Marvel Depicting Epics and Tales
Constructed with white marble and pink sandstone, the Hindu temple stands as an artistic marvel depicting key moments from Indian epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata, as well as narratives from Hindu scriptures and mythology. Notably, it includes portrayals of value tales from various civilizations, including Arabian, Egyptian, Mesopotamian, Aztec, and Indian, alongside sculptures featuring native UAE animals such as camels, oryxes, and falcons.

UAE’s Contribution and Land Allocation
The UAE government allocated the land for the Hindu temple in August 2015, with President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan presenting the land during Modi’s visit to the UAE. The foundation stone-laying ceremony took place in February 2018, and the temple is set to open its doors to the general public on February 18.
