Abu Dhabi Introduces Interest-Free Marriage Loan for Newlyweds

A Boost for Emirati Couples Starting Out

The Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority (SSA) has launched a new Marriage Loan program to help newly married Emiratis start their life together on solid financial ground. This initiative is part of the Abu Dhabi Family Well-being Strategy and the Emirati Family Growth Programme.

What Is the Marriage Loan Initiative?

The Marriage Loan offers up to Dhs150,000 in interest-free loans to eligible newlyweds. This program aims to support Emirati couples by providing financial assistance as they begin their journey together. To qualify, applicants must be UAE Nationals who are employed and hold an Abu Dhabi family book.

Supporting Family Stability and Growth

The Marriage Loan aligns with the Emirati Family Growth Programme’s goal to enhance the quality of life for families and young people. By offering financial support, the SSA hopes to promote family stability and support the community’s growth.

Abdulla Al Ameri, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority, emphasized the importance of this initiative. “This program demonstrates our commitment to strengthening family ties and supporting population growth among Emiratis. It helps couples start their lives together with a secure financial base and aligns with our goal to reinforce family stability.”

Encouraging Traditional Values with Modern Support

The initiative also aims to encourage young Emiratis to marry in line with UAE traditions while providing modern financial support. Ahmed Al Azeezi, Executive Director of the Social Support Applications Sector at SSA, noted, “This program supports the establishment of strong families by combining traditional values with practical financial help. We are dedicated to maintaining high standards of transparency and governance in providing this service.”

Eligibility and Application Process

To be eligible for the Marriage Loan, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The husband must be at least 21 years old, a UAE National, and hold a Family Book issued in Abu Dhabi.
  • The wife must be at least 18 years old at the time of marriage.
  • The husband’s monthly income should be less than Dhs60,000.
  • The application must be submitted by the husband, and the registration must be confirmed on the Medeem Digital Platform.

Applications will open in early September 2024—details on how to apply and the required documentation will be shared closer to the launch date.

The Marriage Loan initiative by the Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority is a significant step in supporting Emirati families. By providing financial aid to newlyweds, the program aims to foster family stability and promote cultural values.
