Starting May 26, 2024, Abha International Airport (AHB) is the first airport in Saudi Arabia to adopt a silent airport policy. This change aims to make travel more peaceful and aligns with global standards seen in airports like Singapore Changi and Dubai International.
No More Loud Announcements
Travelers will no longer hear announcements for flight details, boarding, or other routine information. Instead, all important information will be displayed on flight information screens throughout the airport. This means a quieter environment for everyone.

Exceptions for Emergencies
While routine announcements are gone, the airport will still use voice calls for emergencies. This includes situations like flight delays, cancellations, or lost children. So, passengers can feel safe knowing that important alerts will still be communicated.
Information Campaign
To help passengers adjust to this new system, Abha International Airport will launch an awareness campaign. This will include multilingual signs and electronic notices to guide travelers on where to find the information they need.
Abha International Airport: A Move Towards Quieter Travel
Abha International Airport hopes this initiative will spread to other airports in Saudi Arabia, making travel across the Kingdom smoother and more enjoyable.
