Flying Taxis to Take Centre Stage at Dubai Airshow 2025

Dubai Airshow 2025 will feature the world’s largest Advanced Air Mobility showcase, highlighting flying taxis and eVTOLs set to transform travel across the UAE.

Dubai Airshow 2025, taking place from 17 to 21 November at Dubai World Central, is preparing to showcase the most ambitious leap in aviation technology yet. For the first time, the event will host the world’s largest Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Pavilion, with electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and flying taxis expected to dominate the spotlight.

The Airshow, held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, will bring together global aviation leaders, innovators, and policymakers. The dedicated AAM showcase signals Dubai’s growing leadership in shaping the future of transport.

Bringing the future of travel closer

Visitors to the Airshow will get a rare look at the latest generation of flying taxis. Leading developers, including Joby Aviation and Archer Aviation, are set to display their cutting-edge eVTOL designs, many of which are undergoing flight testing ahead of planned operations in Dubai.

Recent demonstrations have already proved the concept’s potential. In one test, an air taxi completed the journey from Dubai International Airport to Palm Jumeirah in just 12 minutes, compared to the typical 45-minute drive by car. Engineers designed these aircraft to take off and land vertically, operate quietly, and run on electric power, cutting both travel times and environmental impact.

Preparing for a 2026 launch

Dubai is not just showcasing technology for display; it is building the infrastructure to make air taxis a reality. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has mapped out initial air corridors and is working on the development of dedicated vertiports across the city.

The UAE aims to launch commercial air taxi services as early as 2026, with Dubai expected to be the first city globally to roll out the service on a large scale. This timeline has been accelerated by exclusive agreements with international eVTOL manufacturers, with Joby Aviation already delivering its first production aircraft to Dubai earlier this year.

new dimension for commuters in Dubai

For residents, the prospect of flying taxis brings a new dimension to daily life. Short journeys that usually involve battling peak-hour congestion could soon be reduced to minutes. eVTOL services aim to redefine mobility in the city, whether it’s a short ride from the airport to Downtown or a commute from the Palm to Business Bay.

The service will not only provide speed and convenience but also support Dubai’s vision of becoming a smart, sustainable city. Advocates are positioning flying taxis—with zero emissions and low noise—as a greener alternative to traditional road transport.

Driving economic and global leadership

Dubai’s move into Advanced Air Mobility is about more than just cutting travel times. It places the emirate firmly at the centre of global aviation innovation.

The Airshow’s AAM Pavilion is expected to attract international investors, technology developers, and aviation specialists. This will generate new business opportunities and partnerships, while strengthening Dubai’s reputation as a hub for innovation.

Industry analysts predict that the flying taxi market could transform urban transport networks worldwide, and Dubai is positioning itself as an early leader in shaping this change.

All eyes on Dubai Airshow 2025

With more than 1,400 exhibitors and thousands of industry professionals set to attend, the Dubai Airshow remains one of the world’s most influential aviation events. The addition of the Advanced Air Mobility Pavilion in 2025 confirms its role as the stage where future transport systems will first be seen in action.

For Dubai’s residents and professionals, it offers a front-row seat to the future of travel—one where the sky becomes a practical part of everyday commuting.

Dubai Airshow 2025 will not just be an industry exhibition; it will be a turning point in how people imagine moving around the city. By bringing flying taxis to centre stage, Dubai is signalling that urban air travel is closer than many might think, and the emirate is ready to lead this transformation.
