Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the introduction of five new bus routes and the upgrade of nine existing ones, effective August 29, 2025. The changes come as part of the authority’s plan to improve connectivity, reduce travel times, and make public transport the preferred choice for daily commuters across the city.
The latest updates reflect Dubai’s continuous growth and the increasing demand for fast, reliable, and accessible public transport. With this move, RTA is reinforcing its commitment to building an integrated, future-ready transport network that connects residential areas with business hubs and key metro stations.
New Bus Routes from 29 August
The newly introduced routes will link emerging residential communities and business zones, offering residents and professionals more direct connections to the wider network.
- Route 31: Dubai Outsource City – Dubai Silicon Oasis (20-minute frequency during peak hours).
- Route 62A: Al Qusais Industrial Area – Al Qusais Metro Station (30-minute peak frequency).
- Route 62B: Al Qusais Metro Station – Ras Al Khor, Samari Residences (30-minute peak frequency).
- Route F26A: Onpassive Bus Station – Al Quoz Industrial Area 4 (30-minute peak frequency).
- Route X91 (Express): Al Ghubaiba Bus Station – Jebel Ali Bus Station (non-stop at Business Bay Metro Station).
Planners expect these routes to serve areas with rising residential and commercial activity, helping commuters switch seamlessly between buses and metro services.
Upgrades to Existing Bus Routes
Alongside the new services, RTA will restructure nine existing routes to improve efficiency and coverage. The adjustments focus on reducing loop routes, enhancing two-directional services, and aligning stops with demand.
- Route 7: Now runs two-directionally between Al Quoz Bus Station and Al Satwa Bus Station.
- Route 91: Shortened to operate only between Al Ghubaiba Bus Station and Business Bay Metro Station.
- Route F62: Restructured as a two-directional service between Emirates Metro Station and Nad Al Hamar.
- Route 77: Now connects Baniyas Square Metro Station and Al Garhoud in both directions.
- Route X25: Reduced to operate between Al Karama Bus Station and Dubai Silicon Oasis.
- Route 50: Continues between International City and Business Bay, no longer passing through Dubai Outsource City. Further changes within International City will be implemented in phase two.
- Routes 21A and 21B: Revised to operate between Al Quoz Bus Station and Al Ghubaiba Bus Station in respective directions.
- Route J01: Adjusted within Jumeirah Village Circle for improved coverage.
These refinements are expected to deliver shorter journeys, better local access, and more reliable timings.
Commuters’ expectations
With these changes, residents can look forward to:
- Improved connectivity between new residential communities and business hubs.
- Express services such as Route X91 offer faster travel on long-distance journeys.
- More efficient loops and two-directional services, reducing unnecessary detours.
- Closer integration with metro and tram stations makes multimodal journeys smoother.
RTA’s Public Transport Agency aims to keep pace with Dubai’s population growth and urban expansion through these improvements, while encouraging residents to adopt public transport as their primary mode of travel.
Preparing for the Changes
Residents are advised to check updated routes ahead of the launch date and plan their journeys accordingly. Interactive route maps and real-time updates will be available on the RTA Dubai app, allowing commuters to track buses and receive service alerts.
The RTA also encourages passengers to familiarise themselves with the new express and feeder services, which are designed to reduce travel time and provide smoother transfers between metro and bus networks.
The addition of five new routes and upgrades to nine existing ones marks another milestone in the development of Dubai’s public transport system. Effective from August 29, 2025, these updates are designed to enhance connectivity across the city, improve journey efficiency, and make commuting easier for residents and professionals alike.
