Sharjah Police launch community patrols to boost safety

New patrol units aim to improve public trust, neighbourhood presence, and incident response across Sharjah

In a strategic effort to elevate public safety and foster stronger connections with residents, Sharjah Police has rolled out a new community patrol initiative. The move is designed to ensure faster incident response, heightened police visibility, and greater public trust across residential areas in the emirate.

Led by Major General Abdullah Mubarak Bin Amer, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, the initiative reflects a broader vision of proactive, community-centred policing. It focuses on enhancing daily patrol operations to align more closely with the needs of Sharjah’s growing and diverse population.

Enhancing public engagement through presence

The community patrols will operate more actively in neighbourhoods and frequently visited areas, including parks, markets, and residential blocks. Officers will be trained to stay visible and approachable, making it easy for residents to report concerns.

By strengthening this direct connection between the police and the public, authorities aim to establish a two-way communication channel that supports both incident prevention and timely interventions.

Senior officials attending the launch included Brigadier General Dr Ahmed Saeed Al Naour, Director General of Community Protection, and Brigadier Ahmed Mohammed Al Marri, Director of the Community Protection and Prevention Department, among others. Their collective focus was clear: to make Sharjah’s streets safer, more responsive, and more community-driven.

Faster response, safer communities

One of the key objectives of this initiative is to reduce police response times in emergencies. With teams placed nearby, residents can expect quicker responses to security, traffic, or other issues.

According to officials, this model will not only serve as a deterrent to crime but will also provide reassurance to families, professionals, and business owners alike. It’s part of Sharjah Police’s plan to offer smart, integrated policing for a rapidly changing society.

Building a culture of safety

The patrol initiative goes beyond enforcement—it is about building a culture of prevention, trust, and shared responsibility.

With this community-first approach, authorities believe residents will be more empowered to participate in shaping a secure environment.

These programmes support the UAE’s long-term goal of boosting public trust and inclusive safety for all.

Community patrols aim to boost safety for both Sharjah residents and Dubai commuters. It enhances tourist experiences with more visible, accessible police in key areas.

In the coming weeks, residents can expect to see officers engaging more directly within neighbourhoods, offering guidance, and collecting feedback on safety issues. Authorities also aim to use this engagement to identify emerging concerns and tailor their responses accordingly.

Sharjah Police’s new community patrol initiative is a timely and progressive step towards safer, more connected communities. The initiative reflects a modern UAE approach by focusing on trust, quick response, and local presence.

As this rollout continues, community members are encouraged to stay informed, participate actively, and engage with local patrol officers. With shared effort and open communication, this initiative can help shape a safer future for everyone in Sharjah.
