Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency Barred from Release in Bangladesh – Here’s the Full Story

Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency has been generating immense talk – be it for its bold subject, her fiery persona, or the numerous controversies it has already stirred up. But just when it looked like things were settling, here came another curveball. Bangladesh has banned the film, which is set to hit theatres in a matter of days. Emergency won’t be lighting up the screens across the border.

Bangladesh Says NO to Kangana Ranaut Starrer Emergency

According to insiders, the ban has little to do with Kangana’s on-screen portrayal of Indira Gandhi. But has everything to do with political vibes between India and Bangladesh. A source spilled the beans, saying, The decision to halt the screening of Emergency in Bangladesh is tied to the current strained relations between India and Bangladesh. The ban is less about the content of the film and more about the ongoing political dynamics between the two nations.”

Cross-Border Tensions

For those not caught up on the headlines, relations between India and Bangladesh hit a rocky patch last year. Major changes in the countries’ political dynamics were triggered by the tumultuous ousting of Sheikh Hasina’s government amid protests and anti-Hindu violence that shook the nation. Amid all this chaos, Emergency has somehow ended up as collateral damage.

This isn’t the first time a Bollywood biggie has faced the cold shoulder from Bangladesh. Even Pushpa 2 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 got axed for similar reasons.

About Emergency

While the ban might sting, the excitement for Emergency is still sky-high in India. Directed by Kangana herself, the film stars industry veterans like Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, and the late Satish Kaushik. Set during one of India’s most controversial political periods, the movie promises high drama. It also has intense performances, and a whole lot of Kangana’s signature boldness.

The film is all set to release on January 17, and no political ban can dull the buzz it’s generating at home.
