Sheikh Zayed Road to Close Twice in November

for Dubai Fitness Challenge 2024

In an exciting development for Dubai’s fitness enthusiasts, Sheikh Zayed Road, the city’s busiest artery, will close on two separate weekends in November. This temporary closure will make way for the Dubai Ride on Sunday, November 10, 2024, and the Dubai Run on Sunday, November 24, 2024. Both events are part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, a month-long initiative that encourages residents to dedicate 30 minutes of daily exercise over 30 days.

An Unforgettable Cycling Experience: Dubai Ride on November 10

The Dubai Ride invites cyclists of all skill levels to enjoy a scenic ride through Downtown Dubai. Participants can select between a 12 km route along Sheikh Zayed Road, perfect for seasoned cyclists, or a 4 km family-friendly route designed for leisure riders and families. Cyclists will begin their journey from locations near the Museum of the Future and the Burj Khalifa, passing iconic landmarks as they pedal through the heart of Dubai.

A new feature this year is the “Speed Laps” option, exclusively for experienced cyclists aged 21 and above. Participants on this 12 km route must maintain a minimum speed of 30 km/h between 5:00 and 6:00 a.m. All other riders should finish their ride by 8:15 a.m. to allow the road to reopen to regular traffic.

A Spectacular Run Through the City: Dubai Run on November 24

Two weeks after the Dubai Ride, the Dubai Run will take center stage, offering both a 5 km route and a more challenging 10 km route along Sheikh Zayed Road. Thousands of runners, from beginners to professionals, will gather to jog or sprint past iconic sites, including the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Opera. The routes are designed to accommodate a variety of fitness levels, with staggered starting times—7:30 a.m. for the 10 km run and 8:00 a.m. for the 5 km run.

Traffic Updates and Alternative Transportation

Dubai will close Sheikh Zayed Road, Financial Centre Street, and Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard. The Dubai Metro will operate as usual, offering convenient access around the event routes.

Registration and Entry Details

These events are free, with online registration open through the Dubai Fitness Challenge website. Registered participants will receive bibs and event details before the events. Dubai Ride and Run unite all annually.

Why Participate in Dubai’s Fitness Challenge Events?

The Dubai Fitness Challenge offers a citywide health and fitness celebration while exploring Dubai’s iconic locations. Participating in these events promotes a healthier lifestyle and highlights Dubai’s commitment to community well-being and an active lifestyle.

This November, join thousands on Sheikh Zayed Road, see the city anew, and be part of Dubai’s fitness movement!
